Ok, so we are failing at keeping this thing up, for sure! I will attempt to catch you up on everything that has been happening in the Thompson house since the last update at the end of October. (Oops!)
In November, we had our first Thanksgiving together and Christopher turned 13. Chris, Grandma Kay and I went to the Museum at Fair Park and saw some cool exhibits with dinosaurs and other old stuffed critters. It was a good day! In December, we celebrated my (Ember) 21st birthday, enjoyed Christmas together, and hung out with Christopher for a week while he was out of school. January moved us to Dallas temporarily while we decide which house to go with in Forney, and also began a new chapter in our church. The name was changed from The Oaks Mesquite to New Community Church, and we have been so blessed by the true commitment of our church to "make all things new" in the city of Mesquite and the surrounding area. February blessed us with snow/ice storms and a Superbowl, as well as Steven starting a new job as a Comfort Specialist working for Willard Heat & Air Conditioning out of Forney. A big change in industries, but one of the best decisions we've ever made! He is loving it and absolutely thriving in his new position. I am one very proud wife! March was a busy month for us. We were blessed by the birth of Zoey Lane Hadaway, the daughter of our best friends on March 25th. She is beautiful in every way! Christopher started playing baseball, and we are loving going to all his games. We also found out on March 15th that we are expecting our first baby, which will be due Thanksgiving Day 2011 (which also happens to be Christopher's 14th birthday) on the 24th of November. We are SO excited about growing our family! We are still trying to guess whether it's a boy or a girl, but Mommy just has a gut feeling it's a boy. We won't be able to find out until the middle of June which it will be, but I am sure no matter what, we will all be happy and excited to welcome and love on this new bundle of joy headed our way.
Currently, we are hoping to finalize everything to move out to Forney within the next 30 days. It's a work in progress, but we are praying that everything goes smoothly. As of today, I am 9 weeks and 1 day along, and so looking forward to feeling the baby kick for the first time. Hearing the heartbeat during our ultrasound all but put me into a state of shock, but I think it will be much more real for us when we can see and feel the little one making his/her presence known. Steven, like I said earlier, is doing incredibly well at work and I am so proud I feel like throwing a party and having a parade every day when he comes home from work and tells me about his day. Christopher is rapidly approaching the end of his 7th grade year....I can hardly believe that he only has one more year until he is a high-schooler! He is growing like a weed and becoming more funny and witty every day. It's truly a joy to be around him!
Today is Good Friday and as we look forward to Easter Sunday to celebrate Christ's resurrection, I encourage you to take some time to reflect on the sacrifice that He made for us on the cross over 2000 years ago so that we could be free from sin and ALIVE in His love! If you haven't already made plans for your Easter morning, we would love to have you join our family at NCC. We have 2 services on Sunday morning, 8:30 & 10:30, and we will be offering free professional family portraits to everyone. Let me know if you will be there, and we will save you a seat next to the Thompson's. You can find out more information about our church and directions here.
